Why You May Get Constipation and Gas From Drinking Green Smoothies

By Steve Austin

How come whenever we start consuming beneficial smoothies does our body appear to react in completely differently way than we expect? I know I experienced headaches, bowel problems, and a scarcity of get up and go when I began on the green smoothie way of life about a year ago.

Bloating, constipation, gas, and weight gain are all possible when beginning to drink green smoothies. Our bodies respond to all this nutrition by ridding itself of the toxin stored in it for decades. All of these side effects are a result of that process.

Constipation is normally the result of the digestive tract beginning to dissolve and eject toxic materials a hardened coating that has accumulated on the walls for years. With thirty feet to clean (length of the intestine and colon), there is probably a lot of sludge that needs to be eliminated. Again, you will discover lots of causes for constipation and intestinal gas. Fortunately, this won't last forever though it might take a while to clean all the chips, pizza, and burgers out of the system.

Increase your intake of water and get plenty of rest to help the peristalsis process (movement of waste through the intestine and colon) do its job and speed the process of elimination. To help with gas, don't consume high in fat snacks at the same time you drink your green smoothie. Soon, the advantages of the smoothie diet will begin to reveal positive results. Without being too graphic your movements will at some point start to be more frequent (as they should since we eat three meals a day) and be without as much effort. The unwanted gas may carry on for 2 or 3 months as the body continues ridding itself of contaminants. After a while, every thing will return to normal and there won't be any problems.

Your body didn't get this way overnight and it won't repair itself overnight either. I understand quite a few of the side effects when beginning to drink fruit smoothies seem kind of annoying. Simply think of it as a housecleaning party and there are surely going to be lots of little messes made and dust kicked during the cleanup. However, in the end (pardon the pun), you'll understand the struggles where all worthwhile once everything start to function better than they have in a long time. It will be worthy of the few months of discomfort.
